IMATS TIPS!

Hello to my followers, I apologize as it has been a while and I'd be surprised if I still had any followers!
Now then, let's jump right in to the topic I want to discuss today.
The international make-up artist trade show, better known as IMATS.

Time's counting down until the years first IMATS starts and I thought I'd write a post of helpful tips I think would help those who have questions.
I'm not exactly sure if all locations are different as this will be my second year at the NYC IMATS.

TIP #1
BUY IN ADVANCE

Last year IMATS NYC was completely sold out so you could not buy tickets at the door. Buying tickets early is great because there are a bit cheaper.

TIP #2
KEEP AN EYE ON THE IMATS HOMEPAGE

The page is updated as soon as new information arrives, so it is important to check back to know which speakers will be attending, what classes ate being offered, and what exhibitors will show. When I say keep checking, that means keep checking! Last year NYX and a couple of other brands were supposed to attend but a month or so before the event - they pulled out. I don't know how many people I past asking "Where's NYX" and "I thought NYX was supposed to be here" Don't end up disappointed when you don't need to be disappointed!

TIP #3
PLAN YOUR DAY(S) OUT

You would think having about 9 hours you'd have all the time in the world but depending on which days you will be attending, it'd be wise to plan your day out according to which classes you want to attend. For example last year I wanted to attend Tate Steinsiek's Zombie 101 class at 11:30 and watch the beauty competition at 2:00. I could see that I'd be able to get the most of my shopping around 10-11 (I showed up late, fashionable late!) and 12:30-2. That helped me put everything into prospective and realize how much time I had.

TIP #4
SHOP FOR WITH YOUR BRAIN FIRST, AND THEN YOUR HEART

Be sure to check out the Exhibitors list and make a mental note of which brands you'd like to check out once you arrive. It's extremely easy to get distracted once your eyeballs catch sights of all the rows and rows of makeup! A lot of brands at IMATS offer discounts, so be sure to find out beforehand so you can plan accordingly. Last year Inglot offered 40% off, which was madness as it was the most populated booth. Discounts range anywhere from about 10% - 40%, great prices to stock up your kit and personal collection.

TIP #5
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CLASSES

Look back at that homepage guys! The schedule of classes will be updated. There are a lot of great speakers and classes available as I said before. It doesn't matter if you've been in this business for 6 months or 10+ years - there is ALWAYS something new to learn.

TIP #6
DRESS ACCORDINGLY

I know, I know - all you fashionista's want to dress cute and all but yo have to remember; you will be on your feet for at least 7 hours - even longer depending on what time you arrive. It might help to wear comfortable shoes, so leave those stilettos at home! I don't know how many girls I saw last year switching their heels for flats after an hour or two. Be smart, just bring ONE pair of shoes! It also would help if you brought a small shoulder bag instead of a huge purse. You'll have a huge bag full of  makeup goodies, so it'll be helpful to not have a big ole purse in the way.

TIP #7
NETWORK

I mean honestly, are you going to find a better place then IMATS to network? Get your business cards all ready to go and pass them along. At the same time, start a collection of your own from other attendees. You'll never know when you'll need them!

TIP #8
HAVE FUN AND TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES!

Does this honestly need further explanation?

These are the tips that I can think off the top of my head. If you have any of your own tips, be sure to add!
